Actually, i do have the Stage I turbo, it flows about 100 CFM more air than the stock unit. Guess i forgot to mention that!
The GN's came stock with 19lb injectors(pre intercooled), and 24lb injectors(Intercooled).
The GN uses Coil spring suspension, and i also have Gabriel Coil-over gas charged shocks, but i have a totally different concept of what a good handling car is now that i got the 928.
It really has to be experienced to be believed. I USED to think the GN was a pretty good handler until i took turns in the Porsche at speeds that the GN would literally flip over at. I also had an 85 TA with the FE-4 handling package, and it wasn't even close to the Porsche.
The only cars i have ever drove that remotely compare to the handling of the 928 were my old man's 87 Maserati Bi-Turbo convertible(now that was a cool car, and absolutely terrifying under full boost!), and my cousins 94 Mazda Miata(underpowered but a tremendous cornering machine).
When it comes to braking, i have never before in my life experienced the brute stopping force that the 928 possesses. I read not long ago that the 83' US 928(My year), will do 0-60-0 in less distance than an 83 Mustang GT will do 0-60. That's a pretty impressive feat!
The 928 was the Porsche flagship(and also the fastest production car in the world every year it was made), and when you drive it, it's obvious why people laid such ridiculous cash out for them...power, acceleration, top end, handling, braking, styling, wow effect, a fine leather interior of decadent comfort, with real world reliability, and the finest german engineering, all combine to make the Porsche motto totally accurate.
Porsche....there is no substitute
Fortunately, the 911 snobs(Porsche's core customers) didn't take to the front engined non-turbo V-8 928, so they are quite reasonable to acquire. The internet makes them quite affordable to own(Parts online cost about the same as they do for the typical late model ford).
You can get a 928 for a very reasonable price on Ebay, even the later years. The last year it was made(94), the 928S4 had 388HP, did 188mph, and cost $98,000. I've seen them on ebay for about $30,000 with under 30,000 miles!
I often see the earlier years(78-82) on ebay for about $3000-5000!
Mine has a book value of $12,000 and cost $50,000 when it was new. I paid all of $3,700 bucks for it with only 70,000 original miles.
I frankly consider it to be the wisest purchase of my entire life, and i plan to keep it forever.
I do still love a GM musclecar though, and i always will.
