Believe it or not, with modern offerings from Aguila and the long 22\" barrel, this rifle is a lot more serious a weapon than most would think. Check out this comparison: 22\" bbl .22LR Aguila Interceptor 40gr solid flat nose @ 1550fps FN Five Seven 5.7mm 4.8\" barrel firing Federal 40 gr TMJ @1625fps With that load, the .22LR rifle is amazingly within 75fps of the 5.7mm loading of the same weight, when fired from a pistol. Given the rapid fire capability of a .22 semi with no recoil to speak of....that is actually a tremendous amount of firepower. Then there's the Aguila Supermax, a 30gr available as either a plated hollowpoint or a plated flat nose solid bullet at 1750fps. Brassfetcher ballistics lab in it's summary of .22LR rifle fire terminal effects states \"High KE expanding ammunition fired from a rifle is equal in effectiveness to a .45acp 230 gr FMJ from a 4\" handgun.\" http://www.brassfetcher.com/22LR/22LR%2 ... ATIONS.pdf But the main thing i like about this rifle is it's ability to very quietly dispense super heavyweight 60gr .22 short cased Aguila Sniper subsonics at 950 fps. Those rounds are about as loud as a cap gun with the 22\" barrel, and they cycle the weapon perfectly. |
