Can anyone confirm that these are the correct squadron assignments for the four FOL's in Germany between 1979 and 1992

81st TFW
Det 1 Sembach - 510th TFS from Bentwaters
Det 2 Leipheim - 92nd TFS from Bentwaters
Det 3 Ahlhorn - 91st TFS from Woodbridge
Det 4 Norvenich - 78th TFS from Woodbridge

511th TFS from Bentwaters at Det 1 & 2
509th TFS from Bentwaters at Det 3 & 4

509th TFS & 511th TFS moved to 10th TFW at Alconbury in 1988, did they continue to man the same Detachments?

Thanks

Shuck, your Det 1 information is correct. My camera case has a 510th decal on it. When Sembach opened, I was the ONLY airman there in the initial cadre (SRA) and my life was like a Dirty Jobs episode with airplanes.

Det 4 is correct. We operated with all of them at one time or another.

During my time at Bentwaters, I was lucky enough to fly out of all six FOLs. Great time for a young pilot to get seasoned quickly.

When were you at Bentwaters Coach?
Maybe I turn & burned ya a few times at Aviano when you came to eat dinner at Oricni's up on the mountain!
Was Transient at Aviano 12/80 thru 12/82

I was in the 510th from 84-87, 511th 87-88 and back in the 510th 88-89. You were a bit before my time.

Six? My mind may be going, but during my time there we only had the four...Leipheim, Norvenich, Alhorn and Sembach...

And was Oricni's the place with the squid ink spaghetti?

Cheers! M2

Best I recall there were six. I can't remember the names and they weren't as well known as the others.

Orcini's............It was a place north of the main base on the mountain road. Was one of Playboys top 25 restaraunts in the world, as listed in 1980 or 1981.
As I remember, besides great food, the owner sang the menu to you.

Was a main draw for many pilots to come visit for the weekend,, besides snow skiing at Piancovallo.

Was where I saw my first F-4 Phantom center line gas tank conversion travel pod! The German guys had them. The nose cone had been hinged and snap type clips held it closed!
The German guys loved Orcini's and the skiiing, plus loaded the travel pod with stereos and such on the way out.
I have launched several Phantoms out with the back seater holding an amp or speaker or reel to reel! No room in the pod, they'd take it out of the bax and hae us hand it to them once in the seat!
Man O Man how dangerous is that huh?

I think Jever and Wiesbaden were planned to be used had war broken out.
