Got my new camera (Olympus E-510) and went out to Moody yesterday to get some practice with it. Since it's still new and I'm trying to learn all the bells and whistles, I just shot them in full auto mode.

Along with the A-10's, I noticed they moved the Flying Tiger Memorial aircraft down from Pope in preparation of the new air park.

Nice to see all those Shark teeth.
If i see it right, it is a good place to spot planes with your camera.

I've never seen the teeth on an F-16 before or a Thud before. Good seeing the old P-40 and Sluff again.

I see on the lawn dart they have the teeth behind the raydome.........I remember them being on the intake in the early 90's and it looked like the jet had an \"overbite\".....just never looked right on them. What is worse was the 130's with teeth!!!

Those the Jets from the \"England AFB \" AIR PARK?

The \"THUD\" or F-105 was with the 23rd when it was stationed at McConnell AFB KS back in the late 50's and 60's if I remember right.
They had teeth like the Wild weasels did because I think they were the first ones that were equipped F-105's for that mission .
The tail code was \"MC\" at the park.

Because the 23rd flew , P-40's, P-51's, F-86's ,F-105's, A-7's then the A-10.
They had them all on the \"Stick\" except the P-51.

They sure have seen some \"Wear and Tear\"

Dutchy, yeah it was a great spot that day, The wife and I had gone over to Mission Lake (on base) an were in luck, I guess the winds had shifted so they where landing to the north.

I'll admit I've been slackin, this was the first time I've been to the base, well... since I dropped in and visited you.

Goose, I'm not sure if they are the ones from England or not, but I do know they were at the air park at Pope prior to coming down here. They do look kind of weathered and worn, I'm hoping they will get a fresh coat of paint prior to going back on the stick. I'll get more pictures if and when they ever get thing rolling..

If they are from the England AFB park, which I have learned several of the aircraft have been removed I know where the P-40 came from

They found that P-40 on the east coast at a Airport and they had been using it as a \"Wind Direction \" indicator or as the story goes.
It sat in the 74th EMS hangar part of the \"74TH Complex\" for quite awhile they had to manufacture several parts, patch holes, then they sanded it down completely and undercoated it then applied primer than painted it.

Then one of the EMS paint barn troops, Did a Great Job duplicating the Markings. It was beautiful when it rolled out.

One of the A-10's (there was 2) came from Sheppard AFB and was a trainer.

The Cool thing or \"Eire\" things about the park was they put \"Manikins \" inside the aircraft in complete flight gear and wired the cockpit lighting so that it came on at night.
So looking at those 6 jets with the lights on ,on a stick was kinda weird,
Then you get into the \"Ghost Stories\" I won't go there thats Dice's area.

I must say they all look fine EXCEPT the viper! [puke]
That is the one bird that the teeth actually make look worse!

And the C-130's with teeth look like a \"Clown Plane\" waiting for a 100 clowns to jump out.

the planes are still at the Air Park at England and are in tact. The only one that is not there is the P-40 and that was moved when the base closed. They put an F-86 in it's place. the whole place looks like hell..... [cuss]

The planes are all faded and the buildings are falling apart. The old load barn where dad worked is still there....new ATC tower and terminal where base ops used to be..... just aint the same

Man,
I'm sorry to Hear that \"Air Park\" looks like \"Sh!$!\" alot of work went into that , and the \"Forced Man Hours\" ( ) of the so called \"Volunteers\" ( ) wasted is a shame.

It looked Great in its time.

I have always been a big fan of the A-7. I like the lines. For some some reason I was always impressed with the way it just about jumped off the deck when we were at sea. It was almost like it just couldn't wait to get in the air. Never saw one with teeth though and never realized the Tigers flew them.

Goose, sorry I haven't gotten back to you bro. I have a week left at Gunter and then I can say I am done with SNCOA. Things are slowin' down a bit so I'll give you a jingle here in the next couple days.

The P40 fron EAFB is or maybe was on a stick at Pope and I am thinking that the F105G WW are two seaters. At Spang we had lawn darts with subdued teath they looked like dead fish all washed out nasty.

Here's a shot of the F-105 I took in 04. There was an A-10, F-105, and and A-7 in the park when I was there. There were the only three aircraft I saw during my visit.
