While I was editing some recent pictures, I noticed this sticking up on the backbone of one of the Acft. I know it's a antenna but can anyone be more specific?

It's called BLOS. IDK what it stands for, only a few of the jets have it, it's in progress for the rest of them now. It works with certain phones (satellite ones maybe?) and has a few other capabilities. |

Thanks guys, I kind of figured it was some kind of sat link sure beats the pilots having to use the hand held devices they used in the desert. JackB fyi did a search for BLOS and came up with Beyond Line of Sight.. |

Yes, that is correct. As most of you know, the existing UHF/VHF worked by line-of-sight only. BLOS corrects that and adds some excellent new communication capabilities...this isn't the place to go into it, but I am willing to share more info through .mil e-mail.
