I've seen a few familiar faces around here from forums such as SimHQ and Military.com.

I started out in 1986 as an F-4G Crew Chief (Wild Weasel Keeper) at George AFB, CA. I Palace Chased to the Indiana Air National Guard in 1990 and crewed F-4Es and then F-16Cs until 1994. I took a long break (11 years) and came back to the IN ANG in 2005 and am a full time WG-12 civilian technician F-16C Crew Chief...and weekend warrior SSgt.

We're supposed to send our block 25 F-16s to the bone yard by the end of the year and convert to block 30 F-16s. However, the Adjutent General of the Indiana National Guard Bureau visited us a week ago to give us our third Outstanding Unit Award and told us we may be getting A-10s by 2010 (next year). Supposedly they're going to be newly modded and should last until 2030. Unfortunately I don't know much about A-10s or what they'd mod since I'm a fast mover CrewDawg, but I'm looking forward to it if it does happen! I've heard something about new wings and updated avionics or glass cockpits. Sounds cool to me. I'm not even sure where they'd come from but heard rumors they might come from Spang.

Anyway, this may be a new home for me since a lot of my current browsing is at F-16.net.

Cheers!

Welcome to the best place to be if you like the A-10 (or other things).

Welcome! (Even if you DID say the \"F-\" word. There's no love lost on the Lawndart here) [lol]

On the other hand, there is hope for you, in 2010!

Hehe, thanks for the welcomes. The Lawndart has actually been a good jet and we did well for two deployments to Balad Iraq, once to al Udied, once to PSAB, and once to Kuwait with them. I'm looking forward to getting my hands dirty again like I used to with the Phantom though and not have to call the pointy heads for most problems.

Hey Goose. I was born and raised about 30 miles north of GUS but I'm now in Ft Wayne, IN for the past 18 years. When I was still in high school the Grissom A-10s used to buzz my farm all the time. I was home on leave from the USAF around 87 or 88 maybe when the Grissom A-10 nosed into a field north of the base. I drove to the crash site about 15 minutes after he went down and remember seeing his wingman still orbiting the area until the AF got up there. Eerie and sad day.

Hey Weasel Keeper always nice to have an old phantom pixer on the forums. Don't feel bad I work on the F-16 also, I just don't talk it much around here.

Hows thing over at SimHQ? I haven't dropped in over there in a couple of years.

If you want to know more about the A-10C go to my site (link in my sig) and click on the A-10C link on the left hand side. I'm sorry to say you will not be getting away from the pointy heads on the C model.

I use to do pickups right across the road from you guys. It was great when they finally finished the construction of the runway at the northeast corner a few years back. You are literally a few hundred feet from the runway and get a great view watching all the aircraft taking off. Now I do pickups over in New Haven, but I miss watching the 16's.........even if they are 16s

Hey, Battle Creek!

I had the joy of a TDY last year to the Thunder Over Louisville airshow and our 6 Crew Chiefs did the TA work at the Louisville ANG base where everyone parked...since Louisville is a C-130 base and nobody knew about fighters (poor saps :P ). We took care of 4 A-10s from BC...good group of fun pilots they were (one's callsign was \"Bitch\" I believe). We also took care of a group of T-38s, T-37s, a couple choppers, and our 4 Darts.

Last I heard was BC is losing their Hogs and Selfridge is picking some up? We're supposed to get Selfridge's block 30s and some from Syracuse.

Cool shots from the end of runway here. We often see folks outside the fence taking pics.

Yes but he just finished C-21 school! I guess he didn't want to transfer to Selfridge. I think he's staying current flying with CT until our first jets arrive at BC.

Which Way does his Head Lean\"? to the left or right?

That's how you tell DIFFERENCE between them on the \"C-21\".

And people say the \"Hog Cockpit \" is cramped?

Welcome aboard. Remember in side every Lawn Dat guy there is a hawgfixer just waiting to come out. Realizing you have ad a problem for a while is the first step to recovery and we here at the Territory will be more than happy to be your therapists. I was a therapist but now I am a client. I'm a guard bum also up in Mass. The WG-12, MSgt Crew Chief type just as you. We had Hawgs from 79 untill October last year. Now we suck and fly F-15's. Anywho you will find the greatest amount of A-10 knowledge as well as history anywhere in the world (no lie not an exageration) here in this forum. Feel free to exhaust our resources, both maintaner and pilot type. Feel free to read people profiles, some of these clowns are pretty impressive. We do however hold ourselves to a pretty strict opsec policy, which may be a reason we are still here. If and when you get your jets maybe you will be lucky enough to find the guy or gal here that once crewed your jet or jets. That can be interesting. Trust me on that one. Check your messages I have sent you one. Again hope to get to know you and welcome to the page.
