You are right, Hogfixer2001!
According to a 332nd AEW PA news release, Capt. Brian \"Snap\" Curland from the 175th Wing, Maryland ANG, made history when he dropped the first JDAM from a newly upgraded A-10C in combat September 19, 2007. That occured during an OIF (late) deployment to Al Asad AB, Iraq.

But because of grounding the worldwide F-15 fleet after a crash, CENTCOM redirected all deployed A-10s from Al Asad to Bagram AB, Afghanistan, to fill the gap of widely grounded F-15E Strike Eagles at this airbase.
I'm not sure if the redirected Hogs also employed GBU-38s in Afghanistan at that time. Please give me time to check again the archives for related USAF/CENTCOM \"Airpower summaries\"...
Or can/will you confirm the employment of GBU-38s by A-10Cs in Afghanistan already after this redirection?
I would be very grateful for any first-hand support!
