Worth a new thread...way to go, Boise!

Quote:
Idaho Air Guard Tops Hawgsmoke: The top team at Hawgsmoke 2008, flown out over the Smoky Hill Range near Salina, Kan., last week, is the 190th Fighter Squadron of the Idaho Air National Guard. Air Force Reserve Command's 442nd Fighter Wing at Whiteman AFB, Mo., hosted the biennial A-10 bombing and gunnery competition, which featured 14 A-10 squadrons from active, Air Guard, and AFRC units around the country. The 50 pilots and some 400 maintenance and support airmen shared 30 Air Guard and AFRC A-10s because the on-going mandatory inspection of thin-skin wing A-10s reduced the number of available aircraft. According to event organizer Lt. Col. Brian Borgen, the choice of Salina couldn't have been better. He said, \"The City of Salina and the people here have been absolutely outstanding in their support of Hawgsmoke.\" Competition planners provided visitors and journalists a prime viewing spot. As winner of the 2008 event, the 190th FS and its parent 124th Wing at Boise will host and select the location for the 2010 Hawgsmoke. (442nd FW report by Maj. David Kurle)

So HAWGSMOKE 2010 will be in Idaho! I haven't been there since 1985, might be time to go back and visit on the 25th anniversary of my departure.

Cheers! M2

Because I´m from \"the rest of the world\" (Germany), it would be very great to meet at least some of yours on Hawgsmoke 2010.

To JJ.What about the Nordhorn Range. Near by the Dutch border.
And also Cornfield Range at Vlieland (island in north of Netherlands).

But i wrote before. I think the Hawgsmoke never be held outside the US.

Spang doesn't even bring their jets over when they compete in HAWGSMOKE, so they'd have to loan everyone else their's if the competition would be held there (which I don't believe is possible...)

Cheers! M2

Shame they didnt have Hawgsmoke in the 80's........if the 81st TFW had won, they'd have had enough to loan out to the others when it was staged here 8)

Well done to the 190th

I was just wondering on how each unit faired by ranking 1-14.

I was wondering what units placed 2nd, 3rd, 4th so on and so forth.

Interesting to note that not one of the winners is flying a \"C\" model. Perhaps lipstick on a pig (Hawg) applies?
