what does the cockpit RWR sound like in the various modes? (being tracked, a lock on etc.).Is it different in every aircraft? is there a sound file somewhere that I could listen too? Is there a sim that re-creates it particularly well? Any help would be appreciated guys.

The ALR-69 in the Hawg has several different beeps and squeeks that let you know you're being tracked or launched on. I don't have them memorized...the noise just brings my attention inside long enough to look at the screen and get a general idea of where the threat is and what it might be. There are practice files, but that stuff is mostly classified.

yeah I was afraid it might be classified to some extent , but it seems silly to me.

Actually, just about any non-BIT sound that the RWR produces when receiving trons from an actual threat is classified. As well as any and all visual symbols produced by the system, real threat or not.

As they should be.

For that, go talk to a B-52 EWO, or EA-6 ECMO. They take some course in training to equate certain beep/squeak patterns to every type of air/ground threat out there.

IMO, that'd drive me crazy.
