Now that Northrup and Grumman have merged........Maybe with Grumman's proven expertise with carrier aircraft they can make a maritime air superiority fighter out of the F-23..........

But if they did that, they would have to step down as the prime subcontracter with Boeing on the Super Hornet........Now thats a thought.

Saw a program last night on our local PBS station about the JSF competition. How do the missions of the F-22/23 and JSF (F-35) differ?

F-22/23 were next generation Air Superiority fighters (with some AG capability built in from the start of the ATF program). The JSF F-35 (why not F/A-35? glog) will be a Strike Fighter(Fighter bomber would be the AF designation) be-all do-all like F-16, F/A-18.

Nice explanation of the roles of the F-22/23 and F-35... oh, you do know the designation for the F-22 is officially the F/A-22 right? Just checking.

I think it is going to take buzz a long time to learn how to take things on these boards....even I didn't ruffle as many feathers last year when I became moderator...Oh well, you can learn the hard way, or not at all I guess....About the F/A (crock of sh*t)22...great air to air fighter...I'm holding my judgement on the "A" role for the future...I LOVED the F23...the look, she just looked so cool...oh well, the F22 (my bad F/A22) has grown on me as of late....I was going to post a pic, but can't seem to get connected to my location..oh well..do it later...
