Hoglets in the warzones, we need some pix of ordnance with customized A-10.org type messages on them. If we get a really good one, i will talk to pete about using it for the WT's home page.

If we get enough response we can make it into a contest, maybe i can get pete to donate some tee-shirts or whatever for the winner.

Let's git'r done!

Last time I was over there we didn't have Mavericks, I don't predict we will this time either. Bombs only.
I'll write damn near* anything on a bomb.

* damn near because I have a line # and I'd like to keep it.

Put whatever the hell you want on them, they're your bombs...but our 'winner' will surely have to be PG13 at worst.

Be clever!

If I'm not mistaken Weasel did this one back during OIF...

That's interesting and sad at the same time, the maverick has been the second weapon of choose for the A-10 for over 30 years (only behind the gun), now it seems PGM's are taking over.

Isn't a maverick a PGM in it's own right?

Yea, technically I guess but, I think of Mav’s more as a “launch and leave” or “fire and forget” weapons and I think of PGMs as more along the lines of LGBs and GBUs. I really don’t know how they (AGM-65s) are categorized these days.

Ahh yes. I made that one in 2002, Dice. Jack, we fired a -65's at least once that last time I played in the sand. I think the pic of Henry Rollins' signed Mav is in the photo section on here (it was the morning of his visit we had a one leave the rail.)

We always flew Mavs during OSW, but in OEF, the onyl time I saw them used was when I was there in 2002, and then only during hours of darkness, as a poor mans FLIR pod. Never been to OIF so I couldn't say about that.

Can I submit the Maverick that I flew off of 166 for Goose back in '03 ? I know I wasnt a member at the time with but 4 or 5 posts at the time, but I was close with Goose and I guess I kinda of flourished here after that. I signed it for Goose and the Maverick flew later that day.

If we're going to do this we need to set-up some rules and try to get the word out about the \"Contest\". We could run it for a couple of months, say until the end of Sept. I can post it on mys site and maybe some people here who know some people deployed can get the word to the field. Any more ideas or suggestion on this thing? Prizes will be (so far) 1st place a Dru Blair \"Thunderstruck\" print, Snipe check with Pete and see if he will donate a tee-shirt and maybe a coin for second and third place.

Hey do \"ODS\" Mav's and Bombs\" count???

Or does it have to be \"WT specific\"???? I think I have a \"Couple of Clean -ones\"

Man, you guys are missing all they \"Fun\" We shot 4 Mav's each sortie 4X per Jet on Heavy days, Mk-82's , CBU'c , MK-20's , I think we also dropped A \"Ter too with all 3 Mk-82'S.

You know, for that \"1 pass, save Gas\" weapons deployment!

Yes I think we need to know \"Exactly if you need WT on it or in it\" or just something \"Catchy and PC\"?

gOOSE

It has to make direct mention of WT in some way, hence \"WT ordnance naming competition.\"

Well lets see if we can get it started again and have it ready to go by New Years day. I still have the Dru Blair litho I'll give for first prize but, the contest will have to run until I get back from AZ so I can ship the print.

lets start with some rules but instead of continuing on this thread I'll start another "sticky" thread.

We're not allowed to write on the bombs here now.
~2 months ago all writing on them (not much at the time) got painted over and we were told it's your ass if you write on one.
They told us the reason (besides morale suppression of course) was that they were afraid if one got dropped and was a dud, they didn't want to see it on CNN saying anything derogatory.
