How much further out of limits could his sideburns be?

1179 rounds? That's a new number I've never heard before.

Where do we find these guys?

Coach the gun can hold 1174 + or - 5 rounds so 1179 is a correct answer.

Horatio Hogbreath: I know what you're thinking. \"Did he fire 1179 shots or only 1169?\" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a Gau-8, the most powerful cannon in the world, and would blow your turret clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

OK, I'm going to admit that after flying the jet for 24 years, I've never heard that. The two numbers I've always heard were 1150 and 1174.

I'm going to have to see if I can find documentation on that one, Dice.

I also only knew it as 1174, period. How can it be +/- even 1? Every drum and every round is the exact same size, how could you have two of the same thing but one holds 1169 (-5) and the other 1179 (+5)?

That's cool Coach. 8) Jack it's because the gun is a link-less system so, the rounds can be compacted or loose depending on the load causing the + or -. Unlike the 20mm Vulcan which is a linked system, one link for each round, same load every time.

The Crew Chief closest to the fuselage is my buddy Hammy. I might be going TDY down to DM so he'll owe me beer for that video!

I checked with the weapons guy here, he sent me the page from the TO. Dice is half right...1174 +5. Who knows why, but I swear I've never once heard that before.

I'll post it here tomorrow.

I know we were working with a +/- 5 rounds, maybe it was something to do with the digital stories management system I don't remember, I have been off the A-10 5 years now. :?:

What's + or - 5 rounds between Tanks???

On all the Armament Boxes on the Jets I ever saw except when we \"Live fire or the Sandbox\" they might as well had Stenicled \"1150 Rd's\" in it.
Then most still said \"1150\"rds

Where's a \"Muzzle F--Ker \" when you need them??

Because Didn't they just load the 1150 Rd's to keep to the risk of \"Gun Problems Down\"???

Its been longer than 5 years for me 18 1/2 years.
