That is, without a doubt, the most butt ugly paint job I've ever seen on an A-10. The Choco chip desert pattern would have been better.

Rivaled only by the Bradley 50th Anniversary paint job...this is definitely the worst ever display aircraft. It should be reposessed by the US.

I'm surprised. Any background info about this rare paint job?

The one other place i have seen those colors use in the European paint scheme. September of 1978 A-10A Europ 1 Test Scheme
http://www.jpsmodell.de/dc/draw/a10eur.jpg
Using the color combination of
FS 34102 Light Green
FS 34092 Dark Green
FS 36231 Dark Gull Grey

So far only other listing for this Units European 1 camouflage is on page 137 of Don Logan's Republic's A-10 Thunderbird II.
\"The 10th TFW's A-10s wore European 1 Camouflage with AR Tail code,Standing for Alconbury Recon.

Possibly some one just did not get a good color match for the FS light green.I will check a couple of other books i have and see if i can find this mess any ware else.
Just to clarify this is just what i have researched in books and on the net. I was not stationed in that area during my time in the Air Force.

FS36081 EURO--Gray
FS34092 EURO--Green
FS34102 MEDIUM--Green

http://www.testors.com/category/135243/ ... amel_Paint

So I just took these colors Codes off the Testors Masters Chart and these are the FS Standards and the colors listed below not only \"Wrong on the Jet, are list wrong \"

These Guys should looked at the \"Paint Chart that's Free on the paint display before painting the Jet\"

That version of color combination with the same Camouflage pattern is listed on Dons colors a revision released
Faichild Drawing - 160D900006 (revision 1)
A-10A
\"European I\" Camouflage
January 1979
I thought they may have messed up with the first combination do to it having the lighter gray

That is a real kick in the bollocks for the BCWM, that Hog would be better off back at its original home at Bentwaters, the excellent museum there deserve it.

That is without doubt, the worst and most contemptible paintscheme I have ever seen on a flying machine ever........I feel a petition coming on.

Deadman, it might be a \"Paint Scheme \" but the FS Color ## numbers are listed wrong. Use the Guide and compare them with the FS Chart on the Link .

Pictures of the \"Euro-1\" Painted Jets (Early paint Jobs) a lighter Gray but not \"Dark Gull Gray\"

I should Know, My ET-39 was painted in the EURO-1 Early paint Scheme, my Gray was a few Shades lighter, Not that light and had the \"Pine Tree Green\".

Nothing to do with the RAF, Alconbury is still under US control.

Is this the same jet that went off the end of the runway in about 1988, hit the barrier housing and broke the spine?

I think it was a formation landing that went bad?

Probably the 509th TFS, I think.

Thats the one.
Looking at that paint job, it seems the jets bad luck is continuing.
