...and let me just say WOW what a piece of A-10 history! Thanks a ton for taking the time to send me these and I will burn your DVD of the videos I have and get them out to you by the end of the week.

I wish I could take all the A-10 history I've collected from people here and stuff it into the heads of all the new A-10 pilots, maintainers, and support personnel who work the A-10 today, so they would know just what a legicy (SP) they are carrying on!

No, I didn't. At least, I haven't seen it yet. I'll burn another one and get it to you. I'll see about packing it more securely, maybe in a different container altogether. I figured since the envelope was padded, it would do alright. I guess not. :-(

Also, once you do get your copy, there will be at least one section where you'll hear sound, but see static on the screen. That was the one problem I had with that video camera. For some reason, when running on battery, it developed some sort of tracking problem, that was intermittent. Could never tell when it was going to act up, until I got to see the tape later. Took it to Sears once to see about getting it fixed. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. :-(

Anyway, I'll burn another one and get it to you.

I'm glad at least your copies made it ok.

I need to recapture the video of the A-10 demo from the ground, and upload it. I stumbled across it when I was scanning through a tape of an air show at England AFB, and included it in one of the DVDs I sent you.

I figure if we've got A-10 demos from the air, we need to show one from the ground. :-)

I also want to capture and upload the video of a ride in a German Leopard II main battle tank some of us Vanguards were fortunate to get to experience. In a way, it was kind of ironic that we got to ride in a vehicle that the aircraft we maintained was designed to kill. Gave us a new perspective on what the work we did on our airplanes was all about.

Mac,

I FOUND THE BELLY LANDING TAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was tacked on the end of the Demo Tape at the end. The HUD Film part is \"Spotty\" has some bad spots, but Your part is Clear and the Color Crisp. I'll get that \"Tracking\" fixed with that
\"DVD6 \" Recorder. The Hud film If I need to I'll just \"Cut those Frames out\" , they kept making my Editing software shut down this morning.
Hey was that the Tank \"Mike Foley couldn't get his ASS in because it was to BIG. I didn't go, Mine was I knew too big, but I was changing a Brake and and Canopy Actuator, and my IFR Door Lights were inop.

I wanted to do the BMG Training (Machine Gun Training) but we were too busy .

The one part looked Familar was the Fairchild \"Tape\" I have a copy on the DVD I'm sending but it has been \"Re-written and new seens added\" but your Color is Better, so I'll just Dub in the New parts with the New Scrpit. \"The one you have says \"It will take out T-62 Tanks\" in testing, Mine say \"It has proven to take out T-72 tanks\" and it goes into the ABDR , And what an A-10 can Fly without and still come Home, (It has to be some of the DS BD jets) or it was \"Damn good Looking into the Future!\"

Because mine was made in 1992.

But Who ever has 201 from the 75th from back then , It made a NO GEAR LANDING even passed thru EOR Before it Skidded off into the Field.

Great Film Mac! You'll Love it Dice

I'll run it thru the New Gizmo and it should fix all those problems and I'll send you a Clean Copy Back.

Goose

That's great! I still don't know where my copy is. I've looked through all the videos I had that had anything A-10 related on them, but haven't found it yet. As soon as I get a copy back from you, I'll post it online.

I should make clear that I didn't shoot any of the video on the ground of the belly landing. I don't recall who I got the tape from, but I got it from someone, possibly the same person I got the "hud camera A-10 demos" from. I just don't remember.

I watched the belly landing, but I didn't have a camera with me.

Just out of curiosity, I did a search on "A-10 Thunderbolt II" on Google. Check out what is number 3 in the results!

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22A-10+ ... =firefox-a

And, according to Xmarks, the bookmark synchronization add-on I use, WT is #2 on the list of sites devoted to the A-10.

Interesting, isn't it? :D

Mac, your DVD is going in the mail tomorrow so you should have it in a couple of days. Sorry it took me so long but I've been busy with the holidays.

I've got other videos from various TDYs, including a trip to Lemoore NAS in December, 1989. There's a clip on that one of a certain former crew chief launching one of his old aircraft out. I'd forgotten that video existed of me doing a launch, but it sure enough is there! After I get the belly landing video cleaned up, I'll work on posting "the launch video". <G>

I got my DVD's re-done by Mack over the last month and he did it in his \"Little Spare time he has\" but they came Tuesday.

I haven't watched them yet, I 'm just getting my New (Refurbuished Acer PC ) Up and running my HP Media Center  just gave out. It was used when I bought it after the 2007 Chirtmas Lighting Strike on my \"Custom PC \" , to replace it with the \"Little $$$ the Surge Protecter's paid me\" .
It was a 2005 PC .
So now I actually have a Laptop and PC with the same OP systems loaded, Its Vista Home Pre. Ult. version 2 but I kept the 32bit version. I have a Free offer for Windows 7.

Thanks Again Mack

So I'll start ripping copies and trying to get them out.

Thanks Goose

Glad to see both that you got the DVDs and that you're back online. "The Belly Landing video" is still on my list of videos to clean up. What I sent you was the "straight to DVD" of the VHS you sent back to me as well as the '89/'90 TDYs video.

I'm working on the belly landing video. I was thinking about doing a "PIP" (Picture in Picture) of the belly landing. You know, the main view being the video from the onboard camera, and the "PIP view" being the video shot from the ground.

Which do you think would be better: the main video being from the onboard camera, or the main video being the one from the ground?

And, if anyone has any information on who was flying that jet when it did the belly landing, that would be great. According to the date on the video, it happened October 4, 1988. It was either a Black tail or a Blue tail. I'll check the video on the ground to be sure which section owned the jet.

I don't know if I'll be able to get the belly landing video clean enough to upload. I just did a "trial run", and burned a straight copy of just the onboard video to a Flash video file, and the quality of the video degraded quite a bit. I'll try a higher quality setting/format, but I may not be able to get a good enough copy of this to post online somewhere.

When you're working with a copy of a copy of a copy of a..... 20+ year old video tape, you don't have a good original to work with.
