I brought this up because as most of you may know, in addition to being an old Load Toad from DM, I spent the majority of my career in CATM. So I also hang out on the CATM web site and came across a thead there resently about having to remove a Scripture from ACOG sights.
Now personally, I could care less what codes a mfg puts into their serial number, so long as the part works, and in this case allows one to survive a fire fight. Granted, the mfg was out of line in putting this on sights known to be going out their door to fill a government order, especially in these days of political correctness and trying to play nice with a people who'd just assoon shoot us as the terrorist.

In this light, I personally agree that it should not be on government owned weapons and equipment. In hindsight, and due to the fact that the DOD was about to yank a $6.5 MILLION contract, Trijicon has agreed to stop putting the codes on new scopes for the Government.
Ok, this is all bad enough, and in light of US forces training Iraqi and Afghani forces with these weapons, I can see how this might create some tension within the forces there. However, to the best of my knowledge, the AF does'nt train Muslem forces, yet, a TCTO has been sent down to all CATM shops for them to remove all scripture codes from AF owned ACOGS. WTF?!?!? As if they don't have enough to do?!?!
Personally, I think that is our Muslem Brothers in Arms dont like the code, then they can remove them their selves, but I don't think we should have to go to the trouble and expence to do this on AF Weapons that aren't used to train Muslems. Also, I think that if they can't get over it, then they can just give the scopes back to us, and they can use iron sights.
So what do you think about this?
