Hi everyone, I know been hiding out , some of you I have been talking too once in awhile on FB , but mostly keeping my Mind on my Daughter.
Almost losing my Oldest Girl 6 times , Actually no Heart beat or Breathing, and The Medical Folks having to work on her Doing CPR and Shocking her to bring her back.
Thats not even the Worse part that got her to that point.

But after 104 days in the Hospital 84 of that in ICU then the rest in a REHAB Hospital. She is back at her home again. She is going to REHAB everyday , plus having to see her 6 Dr's still. She still isn't Discharged from care , but just living at Home. Its part of her REHAB.

Her case. is such that their writing Medical Journal papers on her case ,and will change the way they treat this condition in the future.
Dr's flew in from around the Country just to see her case first hand.

So its been a Busy Fall, But She's doing Great,

So what's been going on around here?

Goose

Good to hear she's on the mend Goose. My God, that had to have been tough on you and Mother Goose. My heart goes out to you both and will keep you and your daughter in my thoughts and prayers.

I wish your and specially your daughter the best. Maybe strange to hear. But for you daughter is it, in the future, a way of life to have a heartproblem. But in the eyes of a parent you always be a hearpatient kid to worry about.
I don't say this as parent, but as kid......

Good luck to you and your family. I wish you the best.

Well I guess I better explain it better,

In August right before going back to school and at work, she was talking with one of the other workers (18yr) she is just about 23. She Her eyes Glossed over and she fell backwards out.
Wasn't Breathing, The Girl couldn't find a pluse so started the New CPR method. She kept it up until the EMS showed up, They thought she had \"No pulse \" so they shocked her 7 times\" . They had her hooked up to O2 but her heart was \"just Quivering\" , They moved her by Amblance to a Awaiting Helo so they AeroMed Her to Temple Tx 20mins still doing CPR trying to pump her blood to her brain and lungs etc..

Her Thyroid Gland had what is called a \"Throdic Storm (??) it means The Throid controlls your bodies Temp, and other things to all the Bodies organs.
Well it DUMPED EVERY THING IT HAD AT ONCE AND NEVER STOPPED.
Causing her temp to raise to 103F and her Heart Rate to go to 200 per minute. So it was going so fast it was like she had no pulse, but the heart wasn't pumping. It took them at Scott White Medical , over 24 hours to get her stable but fought the Temp problem for days. Put her in a Coma,
On a Ventilator and She kept having Cardic arrest.

Her Thyroid Gland grew to the size of a small Banana from her collar bone to just undet her ear lobe. They had a scanner on it, and the Ex was in there and she said you could watch the Damn thing Grow!!!!

But it took 7 days before they could operate due to all the infections. Once your Organs shut down they give off \"Some kind of toxicion\", They put her on Dialisis and were pumping out liters of this \"Septic \" stuff. But as soon as she had her temp was under 100F and they found out she had a Sinus infection, treated they had to remove it, 7 hours to remove the \"Thyroid Gland \"4 Dr's specialists 6 transfisons, they were giving her ,her blood back after reflitering it. and 2 pints.

But it goes on and on, but once they release the medical article on this I'll post it. I had to get everything 3 rd hand or from the Ex when she wasn't being ----- But the Stress, I couldn't get info, Do to Texas HIPPA Laws and She had to give me the \"#:\" or I wasn't given Access. So I wasn't given access. But I got her CHAMPVA Fixed, so she was covered,

But I'm telling you, I had a MS Attack from the Stress, and no sleep, but I wouldn't go in the Hospital so they treated me at home.

But She came thru againt all Odds, with No loss of use of her Kidneys, Liver etc... Her Brain is Fine, she just needs more rest and too build up her strength in her muscles.

They did put a \"Pace maker\" in her just for a back to give her a shock. , The Gr's said \"If it wasn't for her \"Heart being as strong as it is she couldn't of made it , She has good Genes there\". (My Familes :) )

So she Fought like Hell!!! Wen't thru HELL, NEVER STOPPED FIGHTING!
and when she went to REHAB and they removed the Ventilator she Started \"Bitching where is some FOOD!! I WANT A CHEESE BURGER!\" but she couldn't talk, so she was mouthing it to her Sister and she knew what she was saying! They are that close.

So Thank you Folks I know Your Prayers and Thoughts brought her thru this. The Dr's still are Shaking their Heads , saying \"She really shouldn't be here, but We Like being Wrong!\"

Goose

Atleast she didn't say \"Hey where's my M-F ing Monical's Pizza\" when she woke up Finally after 3 days from Her surgery.

(Like her Old Man did in 2002)

Her body was so \"Waxed\" her muscles her weak and she couldn't even lift her hands or even a finger etc.. They had to pump her full of Meds and Fluids and things so she could , but she was drawing within a week again using Big Color pens. They put this \"Vest on her\" that compressed her chest to excerise it for a week, so she could breath on her own.

But she went to REHAB in Waco Tx at a Place were some of the Iraq and Afgan Vets go to for REHAB to re-learn everything. But I guess there is a Board that Picks Who is allowed to go there, you have to meet a check list and shows that you \"Are Committed to doing what ever it takes\"
They do this by watching the patient and their Attitude.
I guess when they kept having to look for her in ICU, because she figured out how to get into a wheelchair and then she would go \"Site Seeing\" looking for a \"Rootbeer\". Or hanging out at the Nurses Center.
It was time to go to WACO.

Her last day of WACO Her sister and Her got into Trouble for making too much noise playing Wii Fighting Games. inthe work out room

When she left , she left with only a walker.

I wouldn't mess with her now, that girl has \"Beefed Up\" !

Sounds like there's a good deal of her old man in her. Tough as nails and not afraid of a fight.

Don't think I'd mess with her either.

Thank God she pulled through! I was wondering about you the other day and how you were doing.

Did you ever get your V.A. claim fixed?

At the risk of sounding crass, better to be tired than the alternative. Wishing her a continued recovery, Goose.

Thanks Dice,

Hows your Wife Bro??

Jan is going to pull thru , she just has to do some more Rehab , using a cane now, (From being Bed ridden on Oct 28th, out of Rehab just with a Walker on Nov 23rd and around the first of Dec started using a Support cane (One with the 4 points to move around periods of time) Her goal is to be \"Cane free by Christmas\" for around the house , I told her That's a Great Goal!
But She has to realise it going to be months , before she'll beable to walk long distances with out assitance . She gets tried so easy and her leg gets weak.
That she can go to a \"Single Point Cane\" ( Hell I Lived with mine now for over 8 years plus my Brace)
I'll get her a Compact one , where she can keep it with her, and when she gets Tried or needs the support, she can \"Pull it out and use it\". If thats what she wants to do.
All The Dr's want her to wait and go back to finish up School until the Fall
She is getting \"Congntive Rehab\" now , and don't think it would be fair to put her back into that area of Study with Her High Grade Avg, and then not perform as well this soon. She agrees, she forgets things plus is starting to remember that day and the time during the stay (Just because your in a Coma doesn't mean that you don't know whats going on or whats said in a \"State of Mind\")

But I'm So DAMN PROUD OF HER!!!

I'm sorry, I've been sick MS problems only been checking in on FB when I was on the Puter checking my mail. Then Dad in and out of the Hospital fixing things from the Prostrate Cancer (Cancer Free still 2 years now), had a Death on the Wife's side.
Daughter turned 23 last week and the youngest one turned 21.
But The oldest is doing pretty good, but can't go back to finish her last semister yet. Still working on her Rehab , (Test Rat) she calls it.
They can't figure out this
\"When you fell backwards and took that Blow to your head hitting the Hard Floor FLAT ON BACK OF YOUR HEAD, and the Swelling , etc.... lack of O2, etc... You shouldn't have any Long Term Memory , You shouldn't be able to know your name. Birthdate, anything??? But How are you able to to it??? She has some short term problems at times not much, but her Memory is sharp as ever.
They can't understand it? So their studing her . I told her just Kick back and Chill, them studing her could help GI's with TBI get better faster If thats what their doing? Its a Teaching Hospital.

But No she is doing Fine other than that, walking with out help, etc...
Now she can use both hands to write with and Draw. Couldn't before, it just happened.

Goose

Our best wishes for her continued recovery. I'm also hoping they can learn from this. At least then something positive can come from her pain.
