So with my 29th birthday quickly approaching (next week), i'm finding out more and more about myself.

The beginning of this month, i woke up for work one day and was feeling dizzy and lightheaded i listed to myself with my stethoscope and my head was doing what sounded like a skipped beat. I went to my Dr and they ran and EKG and told me i'm having what they call P.A.C's. My bloodwork is all perfect and i'm do 20-25 miles on my bike a week. I have a super high stress job, so that can't help. The Dr told me no caffeine/soda/chocolate for a month a see what happens. So as the month ends i listen to myself again and, i'm still hearing this weird beat, now i have a cardiologist appt scheduled for Thursday for a echo and getting a 24 hour halter monitor......basically i'm looking for some reassurance. Has anyone else heard of this or had this?

No never heard of it. But i know sometimes heart make strange feelings. Less of sucker or stress can make you feel dizzy. But sometimes the sinus rythm is wrong. Don't worry, because a heart fixed most times the problem.

Without joking, i survived 4 open heart operations and i am 36 now.
What you discribe about the things that you do by and with the cardiologist, i had i all and get also this year.

Well we shall see after thursday, i'd just like to know that things are ok, and i'd sure love to have a cup or tea or coffee or basically any caffeine.

You can't be too careful when it comes to the heart Racegal. My Lil'brother had a pace maker in when he was 32. I hope this is something that can clear up on it's own, and keep you in my thoughts. Do what the Docs say and take what ever steps are necessary.

Racegal8. Mine last one was two years ago. This year i sport again in compentition. Condition is getting better and better.

I shall think about you on thursday when you have your echo and 24monitor. Trust me, it is little bit strange to walk and doing everything with that monitor. A tip from me. If you go to bed with the monitor, try to let it stay on your belly (maybe to stay it there with a belt). That is because you can turn on left and right side in the bed without laying on it.

An echo is very quick most times or is it more like a m.r.i. scan?

Racegal, I think what you meant was PVC's. premature ventricular contraction's are not uncommon. Do some research on webmd and it should ease your mind.

Dutchy: Thanks for the tip with the monitor, i'll see what happens. They told me that the echo would take about 20 minutes or so.

They say they can be normal or they can be leading to another problem.

Definitely take anything with the heart serious, any chest pain should be checked out. I had a heart attack 6 years ago, the day after my 28th Birthday.

No problems since but you can NEVER be to careful!!!

Wow this board is just full of heart issues, at least we can all deal with things together. Prkiii, if you don't mind me asking, what caused a heart attack so young?

They don't know for sure, they think stress. I had no damage so that was good at least.

Ah stress, yeah they told me i need to try and relax. I have a tough time with that. I have a psycho boss that goes on rampages where she asks you to do something and then says that she never asked you to do anything like that and then everything that you do is wrong....

Well the echo was this morning and the technician who performed it doesn't see any major issues (other then a very minor heart murmur that i have had since birth) The P.A.C's are not happening as frequently, so she see that as a positive thing.

So i am all wired up with a halter monitor and getting ready to leave for work. Lets see if i can get through my work day with out the animals knocking my leads off....

do you have also paperwork to do with that monitor? When i have it, i have to write down what i do. Example, when i do sport, the heart is beating faster and intense. So i have to write that i sport.

Hey guys, Well the doctor said my heart echo is perfectly fine nothing abnormal at all, so i am happy about that. I am still waiting for the results from the halter monitor, they probably won't be available until next week. Fingers crossed that it is just stress and everything is ok.

Racegal, how was it to get on the monitor for 24 hours? Sleeping and walking and doing what you normally do on a day.

as stress goes, I always keep in mind that no matter what happens to us, or what we do, this old world we're on is going to keep spinning, and 100 years from now, no one will know or care about the stress of today. More often than not, the things we stress and worry over, and just not worth the expence in time and effort.

Well still no results of the halter monitor and its been about 1.5 weeks since i dropped it off for evaluation...

Dutchy, having the monitor on was kind of annoying. I have a VERY physical job so i was trying to be careful not to knock any wires off. I also pretty sure i have a scar from one of the sticky tape areas that hold the leads on.....they have them pinned to you tightly.

So my doctor has yet to call me with the holter results, however the cardiologist faxed me the results today. I'm not quite sure what it all means, it looks like some good and some bad.

It mentioned that there was intermittent sinus arrhythmia noted and the i have frequent VPC's but no complex arrhthythmias recorded....

So now i have to wait for tomorrow and see what he says and if i am ok.

That's good news heart conditions can be a scary thing. But no coffee! I don't know if it's worth that!
