...well, I ran across this picture, and, well......you know how some veteran Hog Drivers have as a paperweight or souvenir a nice chromed up 30mm shell with a fake round in it? Well, imagine what one randy pilot and his girlfriend can think up what to do with it.....that is the picture making its way through every A10 squadron right now and branching outside as well (that is how I got it).

Anyway, I am not going to share the picture here but I was just looking to see if anyone has any information on details. You know, who, where, and of course what the hell!!??? Anyway, a name (probably just email me and not post it here) would be great because just about everyone in the community needs to congratulate this guy...and his girlfriend :)

I think I know what pic you're talking about and I just hope they washed it first. It was making it's way around the electronic Hog Log a few months ago.

It was on the Hog Log and it should remain there. It is not a topic of conversation for this forum.

Sorry Luke, the Hog Log is only available to current and former Hog Pilots. When you get to FTU, you can get access to it, also. Topics on the Hog Log will not be shared. Sorry.

You won't be able to get on it there, either. You have to be named in an operational squadron before you can get access.

a "hog log" is what's left of a ZSU-23 Shilka, 30 seconds after it gets a "lock" on an A-10 <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

The Boars Den (or hawg log) is a community area, for past or present hawg drivers, to not only participate in the Hawg Log but also to share information such as Weapons and Tactics information, PCS information, Airshows, you name it. A forum for all hawg drivers to share just about anything to help each other across the community. Registration is free however you must be authenticated as a past or present hawg driver to gain access.

I am new to this board but not to the A-10. Many years ago I worked on the production line at Fairchild Republic and have personally been involved with the production from the prototype to about 40 aircrafts! Amazing airplane!

Hummmmmmmmmmmmm..... I too have several polished 30mm shells and some 20mm and some 40mm from an AC-130s Pom-Poms and a whole belt of 50 cal..........yet I just can't imagine what could be soooooooooo offensive about that Hog Driver, his main squeeze and their toys?????? Must be an AMMO thing ;o) JKA

A tourist walked into a pet store and was looking at the animals on
display. While he was there, a Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt) from the
local airfield walked in and said to the shopkeeper, "I'll take a
maintenance monkey, please."

The man nodded, went to a cage at the side of the store and took out
a monkey. He put a collar and leash on the animal and handed it the
CMSgt, saying, "That'll be $5,000." The CMSgt paid and left with the
monkey.

Surprised, the tourist went to the shopkeeper and said, "That was a
very expensive monkey. Most of them are only a few hundred dollars.
Why did that one cost so much?"

The shopkeeper answered, "Ah, that maintenance monkey, he can rig
aircraft flight controls, score 95 on the AF CDC test, perform the
duties of any MX officer with no back talk or complaints. It's well
worth the money."

The tourist spotted a monkey in another cage. "That one's even more
expensive--$10,000! What does it do?"

"Oh, that one is a 'Maintenance Supervisor' monkey; it can instruct
at all levels of maintenance, supervise maintenance at the unit,
intermediate, and Depot level, and even do most of the paperwork. A
very useful monkey indeed," replied the shopkeeper.

The tourist looked around a little longer and found a third monkey in
a cage. The price tag read, "$100,000." The shocked tourist
exclaimed, "That one costs more than all the others put together!
What in the world could it do?"

"Well, I've never actually seen him do anything but drink beer and
play with his balls, but his papers say he's a Pilot!

I told my wife about this pilot's optional use of the 30MM round and she said she would rather have something a little more man sized.
I guess his girlfriend didn't know any better.
