hey Mudd or who-ever. If you've flown the F-16s with the gold canopies, can you relate what that is like? I was wondering if it degraded your visual acuity or perhaps enhanced it by cutting down the glare?

Goose,

I'm surprised that I have sparked such a controversey here... I would view my remarks as fairly peaceful and logical.. not cocky or smart or whatever you would characterize them as. I am just trying to get my point across that he F-16 is a great fighter...I'm not attacking anyone. I guess we're not allowed to share opinions on these boards?? lol yeah right. I figured you guys would back me with the F-16 thing since it worked so closely with the A-10... guess I was wrong, oh well.

You are fine Buzz........We deal with people here that like the F-18E/F Super Hornet, and think its better than the F-14D, so your opinion of the F-16 is on the level.

The F-16 is a great aircraft, the whole point behind everyones mud slinging is the A-10 is a mission designed aircraft, and we like those here. Where the F-16 is a jack of all trades type. The flexiability of the F-16 is what makes it great, we could never afford a USAF with enough mission designed aircraft, so we need the bantom weight F-16 to fill the voids, and it has done that better than any aircraft in the history of airpower, the F-18C has done a good job at the swing mission as well.

Just roll with the initiation razzing..........If you deal with it well you will be fine here on this forum, consider it a test of your online fortitude.

Welcome Aboard!

Buzz, two words--- Interservice rivalry.

A-10's and F-16's don't mix, just like grunts and tankers(DATs) don't mix.

Just the way it works cuz.

Most of it, we're just breaking yer balls cause yer the new guy.
(It's a lot more um...frequent in the service for FNG's, lol)

SO QUIT YER WHINING AND GIVE ME 50!!!

ASSUME THE FRONT LEANING REST POSITION, EXERCISE!!!

LOL, a flashback...

"A-10's and F-16's don't mix, just like grunts and tankers(DATs) don't mix."

Snipe this reminds me a of true story that happened to me. Shaw AFB in 1994 had one squadron of A-10's and 4 F-16 squadrons. I was a munitions load crew chief in the A-10 sqaudron. As you can imagine we were the step children of the base. The viper community gave us no respect. Anyway my load crew, a couple of Senior Airmen at the time, and myself qualified for 20th FW weapons load crew of the year. It is a yearly comp to see who is the best damn load toads in the wing. No one in the F-16 squadrons gave us a chance to beat the golden children of the F-16 squadrons. Well you guessed it, we won and shut their mouths for them. That was the last time I loaded munitions as my reward for winning the comp was a transfer to the weapons release shop. still brings a smile to my face to think about it. Man do I miss the A-10 here at Shaw AFB.

DATS wont mean squat if its 2000:1 odds of little mangly shovelhead soft targets swarming the M-1. The only proven concept to dealing with 1000 man wave charges was "The Frozen Chosen." If it wasnt for them to hold their ground. Korea would have been lost before the Amphibous assault and Airborne Units.

M-1 is a good lethal button top Sniper, But doesnt mean dick to swarms of ants and anti tank rockets at the picnic. Theirs not enough ordnance to deal with that.

BUZZ,
KNOW ONE SAID YOU COULDNT SHARE YOUR LOVE FOR THE F-16.
BUT WITH COMMENTS LIKE"buzz2182 Mr. Mudd

I owe you one my friend (passes chartruse)... thanks for the moderation.... the determining factor here? Mudd ACTUALLY READ CHUCK HORNER'S BOOK, as did I.

THATS WHAT GETS YOU INTO FLAK. WHY DONT YOU READ "WARTHOG" FLYING THE A-10 IN THE GULFWAR".
MAYBE THAT'LL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND ALOT MORE.

HERE'S ANOTHER POINT,THE A-10 WAS TEAMED ALSO WITH THE WILD WEASEL F-4G'S
FOR SAM SURPRESSION.
NOW THAT WAS A TEAM!!!

THE F-16 IS A JACK OF ALL TRADES AND A MASTER OF NONE! ITS GETTING BETTER

BUT DONT ASSUME THAT JUST BECAUSE THE A-10 AND F-16 WERE PUT INTO THE SAME PACKAGE THAT WE'LL SING THEIR PRAISES
THE F-16 COMMUNITY AND THE HOG COMMUNITY DID NOT GET ALONG,IN MY EXPREINCE.I WAS TREATED BETTER AT F-15 OR F-4 BASES THEN ANY LAWNDART HAVEN.

SO I'M OFF MY SOAP BOX!

AND HATS-OFF FENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU STUCK IT TO THOSE LAWNDARTS

THE A-10 WAS TASKED TO DO ALMOST EVER JOB
CAS
SAR
SAM SUPRESSION
SCUD HUNTING
BOMBING
FAC
AND SPECIAL MISSION
LIKE GOING AFTER THE OIL PUMPS IN KUWAITT
FIRST TIME HOG LOADED WITH 2000LB DELAY FUSED BOMBS,

PLUS LOOK AT THE AIR TO AIR KILLS
A-10 <b>2</b>F-16<b>0</b>

SO IF YOU LOOK AT THE LIST I GUESS YOU CAN ALSO CALL THE HOG A MULTI-ROLE AIRCRAFT

AND THE BEST THING ABOUT IT
THE GRUNTS SING THE HOG LOVE SONG!
AND THAT IS THE REAL PROOF WHICH IS A BETTER AIRCRAFT.

Goose,

Dude, I love the A-10 to... here is my reason for saying that comment

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> "The F-16 was a major disappointment here"

General Chuck Horner, USCENTCOM AIROPS CINC, ODS.<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

That wasn't in Gen. Horner's book, infact it was quite the opposite.. thats the only reason I wrote that.

Tomcat Tweaker... I gotcha and i agree, the HOG is an outstanding aircraft for ground support... the BEST in my opinion (the harrier can go screw itself).
