Does anyone have any information regarding how many Hogs were lost in accidents ... specifically accidents in North/Central Louisiana. Having grown up close to Barksdale and about 2 hours north of England AFB, I remember several crashes being in the news throughout the 80's and early 90's.

A listing would be great ...

Thanks in advance for the help!

I was stationed at EAFB from Apr 90-Jun92. Excluding any desert storm loses, I remember three. two in a mid air collision just after returning from the storm, both pilots were combat vets and was killed when their hogs collide mid air on a routine training mission I think around Archie, La. The other was a controlled crash after the pilot executed a faulty touch and go, hit the dirt just shy of the over run, severed the MLG actautor and had to put it down on the range.

Thanks for the info.

I want to say the one I'm thinking about would have been around 1992 or so and probably associated with the 917th out of Barksdale. The accident would have taken place somewhere south of the local airport in Jonesboro, LA (about 1.5 hours north of Alexandria / England AFB).

Thanks again for the info ...

MICHAEL PIJAR:

Keep in mind that those are total losses, some aircraft can be rebuilt depending on the damage done...

There have been over 100 A-10s "attrited" (crased, shot-down, damaged behnd repair) in the Hogs history.

Ugly but well hung!
