I grew up in Chicago and went there every year that I can remember until 1997 when I started my first assignment in the air force. I have not made it back since but I sure would like to.

There is a house up there that backs up to the show crowd and every year the whole family would be out in their backyard selling huge glasses of lemonade to the people baking in the sun. There was always about a half hour line to get the drinks. The guy who owned the house said he was paying for ALL (there were 5 kids I think) of his kids to go to college with that lemonade money and there is probably still a ton left over....

I flew my Glass Air homebuilt there back in 98. I had a great time. I would love to make a pilgrimage there every year.

What size motor you running? I have a weak O-235 and hoping to install something bigger in my LongEZ soon. Am installing a Rose electronic ignition this month on the bottom plugs. It's my third and last homebuilt. Started with a Quickie and a really small 22HP Onan engine.

For several years I fly form with a RV-4 driver. Talk about disimilar formations.

Oshkosh and other flyins have become way to commerical in the last decade. I avoid them and the crowds.

I flew out of Mojave, CA from 1980 on for a few years. It was the Mecca for homebuilts then.

Tis reason I use the nick EzyJack, it's for the Long.

Fuel-injected 220 hp Lycoming IO-360 (rebuilt and modified)

I sold my glasair II last year. I am currently in the process of a redesign of the viperjet for use with "Flybywire" and a Williams Ej22 (development) Turbine. www.viperjet.com

I used to do allot of work out at the Gary Butte Flight Center for UAV Projects. That place is thermal heaven for gliders.

Sweet motor you had. Viperjet looks way kool. I recall the original specs Jim Bede was putting out on the BD-10 maybe, supercruise and still have decent range. Have read good things on the Williams motors.

Am hoping either to go with a turbo diesel, the Deltahawk series, 200HP and weighs 300lbs or a 2 rotor turbo wankel of 250HP or so.

Besides the need for speed, they don't need 100LL which is probably going to be gone directly. Let alone being simpler and more reliable than the basic Lyc or Cont is.

I run mogas on my low compression O-235, pisses off the locals because it's half the price of 100LL.

Please keep us updated on the Viperjet.

Jack

I was part of the EJ22 Development engine it is more efficient than my io-360 lycoming. The engine is designed for the new 4 passenger Buisness jets. Due to some aerospace industry cuts the program is not slated for any commercial aircraft at this time. Cessna Mavrik was canceled and the Eclipse aviation is looking at other Engine Manufacturers, however its no suprise that the CEO of eclipse aviation is a PW employee The engine development continues but now at a slower pace due to loss of investment dollars. Dr Williams and I are still focused on the Kit turbine and Commercial applications of this motor.

The EJ22 is a turbo fan. typical of most Williams commercial designs like the FJ33 and FJ44's that are flying on Citation X's.

Ive got almost enough parts laying around the classroom to put a "non balistic" lawndart version of the Aces II together.

I really hate to get back to the original thread but Smitty216 will be there along with a couple other Mass crew chiefs. I was asked to go but I have classes.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson
