I recently read that John Travolta owns and operates 2 Gulfstream V's and has several other aircraft. I was wondering just how much a new Gulfstream IV, or V would cost and how much maintainance it would require to operate? Any info anyone?

I have a photo of JT's place with a Gulfstream parked in one driveway and his 707 parked in another, but it's on another puter, will try to post later this week.

I WOULD GUESS AROUND 30-40 MILLION.

THEY HAD A REAL GOOD SHOW ON WINGS LAST WEEKEND SHOWNING THE DESIGNER AIRCRAFT INTERIORS.
SOME OF THESE PEOPLE SEND CLOSE TO 70-MILLION FOR CUSTOM JOBS.
I COULDNT BELIEVE SOME OF THE JETS,AND I THOUGHT VC-140B'S WERE DECKED OUT

$30-40 sounds about right for a new decked out G550. Of course, the price depends on the options you want, such as HUDs, FMSs, IR camera systems, countermeasures, etc. McDonalds Corp. just bought a new Canadair Global Express at the airport where I used to work, and they dropped something like 50 million on it; 35 for the airframe and systems and another 15 on the interior. Must be nice...

Have read Vs are 40 million stock. You can spend 10 million just doing the inside. Other goodies, O man serious bucks.

Have heard operating a Gulfstream is around DC-9 costs per hour. It's the King of the BizJets with those 737 BizJets pushing it. Just saw a really sweet looking V-737 at Van Nuys.

You buy a Gulfstream and don't sweat operating costs.

Their are new buiz jet astandards now that are for the 4-6 passenger class. These jets are very economical. I had worked on a small jet turbine engine in the 800lb thrust class that was more efficient than the Piston, Turbo and radials of the same class.

The mustang and the exlipse come to mind here. Very cheap and cost effective and are going to be the new wave of the future.

The days of the gulfstream and Citation x's being the prime transport are over with, They will be saved for moving large Groups while the new Small buiz jet class will bethe workhorse of the CEo armadas.

the real cost of any business jet, gulfstream, cessna citation, learjet, or even a 767!, isnt the airframe, but its the cabin trimmings that bump up the cost.

two gulf v's parked on the tarmac can have millions of dollars difference in price because the owner of one has gone for mink and rare animal hides with hardwood look and gold plating on the inside, whilst the other has regular fabric trimmings and pine look woodwork,

the airframe at a guess is only half the cost of the full product.
