One of the rights of a parent is bragging rights, so here goes:

Several weeks ago 30mm Jr was selected "Airman of the Year" for his Guard unit. Not bad for having only been in 18 months! He competed this weekend for state honors and missed it by 1 point. So, out of 2300+ Air National Guardsmen in IL, he's #2. "I don't begrudge the guy that got it...he had combat experience in Iraq- in a C-130!. And we got to be good friends. And his CMSGT, who is a State cop, offered me a job in the Peoria District if I ever decide to go into that line of work!" According to the Command MSGT in charge of the proceedings if it hadn't been for the difference in OIF experience he'd of had it. Said he nailed every question/answer like someone with years more experience.<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>
