underneath the A-10 and some F-18's they paint a false canopy so the aggressor can't tell if he is looking at the bottom or top of a plane.

The idea here is that the shadow of an F-18 is painted on the big jet, giving enemy fighters pause should they encounter one.

I don't think that it would work though, which is why that isn't done.
