One problem I see with that scenario, BV...

We declare Osama to be dead. He doesn't respond. We actually start to believe he's dead. We let our collective guard down.

He now has the ultimate element of surprise - how can a dead person possibly orchestrate future terrorist activities?

He'd be a living, breathing figment of our imaginations until he chose just the right time to pull off some hair-brained bullshit stunt again, and we wouldn't be expecting it at all.

Lucky bastard should be in there somewhere. Some of us don't get the title of "asshole" at entry level, but have to work our way up to it.
