yeah there seems to be a bit of controversy as to wheather it can drop enough goo to compensate for it's higher drop altitude. Probly take about a year to re-load too lolol

I wanna see it drop a load of gasoline on East St. Louis, but be that as it may....
I think it has it's place but the Army or someone has a pallat that loads into the bay of a standard C-130 that dumps water, there are LOTS of C-130s out there, they can go anywhere as far as making pinpoint drops in canyons, why not just use them in great multiples IF we're serious about this at all.

<i>This may be a consideration. There are a lot of old C-130E's out there with cracks growing in vital areas. All the newer ones (H's and J's) are committed to miltary uses right now.</i>

<b>Air Tanker Crash Kills 3 Firefighters</b>

WALKER, Calif., June 18, 2002

(AP) An air tanker fighting a blaze north of Yosemite National Park caught fire Monday and crashed in this Northern California resort town, killing all three crew members and just missing a mechanic's shop, authorities and witnesses said.

A Reno, Nev., television station captured the scene on videotape as the wings broke off the C-130 transport plane. The fiery fuselage then rolled left and spiraled nose first into the ground and exploded in a ball of flame.

All three crew members were killed in the crash "under unknown circumstances after making a drop" of retardant, said Jerry Johnston, operations officer with the Federal Aviation Administration in Hawthorne, Calif.

"It was destroyed by impact and by fire," he said. Investigators for the National Transportation Safety Board were on the way to the scene.

Witnesses said the plane crashed within 150 feet of an auto shop...
