The pictures are very little. But it looks like an SF airplane of Star Wars, Star Trek, Buck Rogers etc. etc., if I see the left picture. The second picture is to bad to get a complete vision of the plane.
I can't really tell you what it is. Maybe Russian?
There goes mine price, good luck to other competers with this.

it was more or less... I had to double check the ID number and its missing its wings so that kinda thru me off... but the cockpit was pretty unique and led to my outburst whilst sitting at the computer "Hey that the caspian sea monster!!".

On the money with the XP-56 Homer. But what is significant about the pic?

I reconize the first one, but now the name. It is typicall an "oh yeah" question. When you heard the answer you say: "oh yeah, that is the one!"
I am gonna find out that name of plane.

Weasel_80-204, thanks for the quiz questions. Nice!

P4M Mercator, would have been a maritime reconnasaince aircraft but it got beat out by the P2 Neptune.

this one I had to do a little research on... I knew it was Navy and the engine type dated the AC to between 1944 and 1950 (most likely) so it wasn't to hard to find.

As far as I know 2 prototypes were built. The pic is the first one which was destroyed while testing it on the ground.
The second one had a different vert. stabilizer, which was bigger, and I think the wingtips were different, too.

You know stress, I have no clue if it is Jack or not. Could beeeee....<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Homer, that is the first prototype and the second does have a verticle stab. So you're right on again!

Stinger, once again comes through with a correctamundo!

I gotta get some better questions.

Of course, the Saunders-Roe was correct.

Ok, and one more especially for Dutchy, with a hint:

When I good think, this was one without a X-number. I have seen this picture before. And I did knew the name. I am shamed of myself, I see pictures, know the planes, but couldn't find the names in my memory.
