First hit on the search. Nice big .pdf file.

He's basically an idiot, but he makes a lot of really good points in that piece.

I agree with you Sniper, he makes some really good points. The thing about it being laterally unbalanced if it loses an engine makes all the sence in the world to me. He also brought up about the jet/rotor wash. I was once put on my ass by a UH-60, I could only imagine what that V-22 could do.

I think the Marines would be a lot better off with a bunch of smaller, safer, more dependable helos, that a few V-22s.

A nice big pdf on why Riccioni thinks the F-22 Raptor needs to be canceled lolol. Maybee he just hates the number "22". Among other things he says it's too expensive, doesnt have a mission, isnt stealthy, isnt manueverable and doesnt supercruise. Other than that he thinks it's just fine I guess lol.

I agree with him on the V-22, not on the F-22.

I've seen the SU-30MkI do just that actually. It was on the old military channel "Super Manueverability" promo spot.

Hmmm. I thought the F-22 was supposed to be wildly manueverable with it's vectored thrust and virtually unlimited AoA capabilities?

Riccioni is not my fave guy, as i noted from post 1.

F-22 has a 60º AOA limit, but it gets moot in a TV stall situation where you can just spin it on it's pitch access ( at higher speeds TV doesnt do much of anything except aid stealth and fuel burn ).
Wing loading for empty planes ( the only number where you can see the highest possible performance )
F-16: 61 lb per sqft
F-15C: 47
F-22: 40

With half fuel and half weapons:
F-16: 75
F-15C: 61
F-22: 54.5

A 45 has a muzzle.
A 9mm has a bullet vent.

The F-22 does not have a sixty degree AoA limit, and if you think you know what it's actual manuevering capabilities are, or even have an accurate representation of it's empty, gross, or mission weights, well, you really are a tool. ;)

Maybee, I dont know WHAT you have seen! lol
You are most likely talking about near or post stall manuevering which the TV allows on Raptor and SU-30. If a plane has "unlimited AOA" ability it could just flip over and shoot a chaser in the face at any speed. Havent seen that happen just yet and if it did I dont think it could fly.

A 45 has a muzzle.
A 9mm has a bullet vent.

At what airspeed? Very near stall speed, I have no doubt.

An SU-30MkI doesnt really have an EFFECTIVE stall speed because of the TVC and it's massive thrust.

At any rate the airspeed on that demo tape was probably well under 300kts. I'm sure someone else has seen the Discovery wings/Military channel "Super Maneverability" promo and can possibly elaborate.

Tell me again why the Osprey is worth the 300-400% price premium over the current readily available MH-60S Knighthawk?
