Willow Grove didnt bring any jets, just people. The jets were from Boise and KC. I got pics of their doors, some new (to me) and some I recognized from when they releived us at Eielson in 2006. I'll post pics soon.

I really don't want to argue with someone who is there, but are you sure JackB? When they left in May, with KC leading off the deployment, they took about 4 jets from each, (I think there were two extra KC A-10s as the spares which came back)......I'm almost certain that a few PA jets were there...I was over doing some photography for them in early August and several jets were missing on the line (in fact I could probably tell you the tail numbers)......I have photos of them going up too leaving Willow Grove in May with the KC pilots....

Thanks for the link on the door art Dutchy. :D Now that I'm TDY and have a broke computer you're my eyes and ears for stuff like this. I had a pilot from Osan send me a new door but it may be this weekend before I can download it and post it.

PA is there Jack, they're just in stealth mode. I know this because of some good \"stuff\" that went on with one of their jets and the BLOS mod.

I didn't notice any during the sawp at Al Udeid, but I guess I wasn't paying attention to them enough.

That's a \"Weird Configuration \" for a \"Hog trip over the Pond\".

We had 2 tanks, but now to think of it, when we had XC birds on the weekends if they had \"Tanks\" We always had to hang 2, I think maybe 2 times in 6 years hung a center line.

Goose,
As long as I have been in...which isn't THAT long mind you...I have always seen a cenetrline. The only time I have seen tanks on 4 and 8 has been in pictures from the Gulf War and before. Not sure what changed or why...maybe someone around here does, though, and can fill us in.

The centerline tank is the usual configuration for pond crossing. The normal routing they use now keeps them close enough to divert bases that the extra gas is not required.

I think the Desert Storm deployment went into Moron Spain if I recall correctly, that requires more fuel for en route diverts so they used two tanks.

Let me know if I'm wrong on that.

Moron was mentioned in 'Warthog' as the stop off, with the Azores as a divert.

Also on the “C” model stations 4 & 8 are normally “dry” stations. They can be reconfigured wet but, a single tank on #6 is the normal configuration.

Nice shots waltz.
