YGBSM! Someone complaining about a Hawg that is little dirty from operations? Give me a break, this isn't a demo team bird; Hawgs by their very nature are meant to get dirty. It is no indication of a lack of love or dedication by its maintainers. Hell, I prefer them dirty, that way I know they've been out doing what they do best...kicking ass!

This reminds me of the Army general that complained about the SF guys in Afghanistan being unshaven...

The issue included a fold-out poster of it, a little more closer to the fuselage. I have it proudly hanging in my office.

Some people just don't get it.

the hog aint a high maintence braud. instead it reminds me of your grandmother with a switch, firm, steady, and loyal. She has the endurance to whip that a$$ so what if it takes her 20 more minutes to get there to do it.

Dirty ? A bad reflection ? Oh that is so funny. This guy is obviously not a life long Hawg maintenance officer or an enthusiast for that matter. He must be one of those \"recently blued\" Air Force guys. By the way I realize that was probably an inapropriate statement for a SNCO to make. But that guy really is out of touch.

Rarely do you find fighter pilots speechless. When I read that comment aloud to everyone at the ops desk, there was silence. There was a lot of \"they're just the reserve/guard,\" but those guys are just as much a part of this fight as the AD is. I know a lot of guys at the Whiteman squadron and I imagine that MX officer has had a few words with at least one of them.

I'm not a MX officer, but I'm pretty sure you can't Code 2 a jet for being dirty.

I don't know what his complaint is. By A-10 standards, that IS a clean bird.

I've seen them at DM during Monsoon season come home with dirt clods on their backs, and green smears down their bellys from hitting the catus on the hills at Gila Bend. So covered in gunsmoke residue that the gray birds looked black. Now that's a bird ready for the wash rack. :roll:

Nope, Hawgs, alot like my old truck, run better when they're a little dirty. 8)

Tool. Good thing we're not fighting a war here, got to keep our priorities straight. Tell you what - when we stop working 14 hour days, maybe I'll give a tiny little crap about how dirty the jet looks. Maybe.
This sounds like the kind of guy who would shit if he saw my boots. I got a new pair and started wearing them on Tuesday. That night I did an APU change, then last night I did a few tire changes and this afternoon I did a dual brake change on a TH. They are almost darker than my black boots back home. Not very \"professional\"

Now this jet (when I was at Eielson) was dirty. Anything less is clean by my standards

That is a great poster, and we have it hanging in our maintenance crew room (and we're Lawndart Crew Chiefs!). When we heard we may be getting A-10s in FY10 that poster was the first thing to go up on our wall. Now we have all sorts of pictures and even a big toy model of one hanging above the flight chief's desk. :lol:

I wonder how often do you guys wash the jets in the Sandbox? :lol: Our 16s were pretty dirty while we were there. :wink:

How many rounds of HEI has the jet fired in the last seven days on enemy positions threatening our troops on the ground? Put that on your maintenance metrics slide!

Dirty jets fly better! The gun goo gets all over the rivets on the fuselage and smoothes out the airflow...gives them 10-20 more knots.

We did washes in Bagram during my 2003-2004 tour. I think we did them after Phase, but it's been a while so I don't remember 100%.

I think I might just E-mail the Capt and ask him why his panties are in such a wad. DOD SUPER GAL FTW!!!

We were required to \"Wash Jets\" during \"GW1\", it made for long nights but it had to be done because of the \"Sand and \"Grime\" getting into alot of the areas and causing problems.

I don't consider that Hog dirty either by today's standards painted in that \" [spit] Color\" it just shows easier.

You guys these days are working with a \"Work Force\" that's probably 1/3 rd of what we had which is the \"REAL ISSUE\" everyone should be \"Mad About\".

Plus we shot so much \"30mm\" , Oil Fires, etc.... I just kept the Teeth Clean , Struts wiped down and the Wind Screen /Canopy clean.
If we weren't \"Pitting Lawn Darts\" and caught up I'd wipe her down, but that was my choice.


So Just because a Jets Dirty does mean its \"Maintainers Don't Care or give that Impression of the Unit\" it means their \"Too Damn Busy\".

For the Pilots Who \"Love Flying Dirty Jets\" You would of Hated flying mine.

But that was the way I was \"Taught\" 25+ years ago and we had the people .

So my Hats off to all you guys doing the Job now,

951 has served the USAFE well over the years, firstly at Woodbridge and now Spang.......in that picture it looks the business.

Does anyone remember that pic of I think Baltimores jet. I think it was in the Bag. It was a nose on shot and it was literally black. Someone here posted it some time last year. If I remember correctly, it had fired roughly three cans of shells. It was pretty !
