80-0248, I don't see a problem posting your videos and if anyone complains I'll remove them. Post away.
I transferred most of the video I have to DVD last night. Getting ready to import it to the computer so I can get it ready for uploading.
Two questions. 1: Where would be a good place for me to upload this stuff? The "Day in the Life of England AFB" video is about 14 minutes long. The "NATO Firepower Demo" film is about 24 minutes long. Youtube limits you to 10 minutes unless you've got a certain level of account. Facebook's limit is 20 minutes per video. Then, there's the "problem" of making a video on Facebook available to anyone outside Facebook. Are there other video hosting sites that may have a higher size limit? I
can split the longer videos up into smaller segments, but would like to avoid that if I can.
Question #2: Which video would the folks here like to see first? These are what I've got on DVD so far:
1. "A Day in the Life of the Flying Tigers" at England AFB, LA
2. "The Kuni Range in S. Korea"
3. "Aim High: Air Force" - a recruiting commercial that features the A10
4. "NATO Firepower Demonstration" - shot at Eglin AFB, FL
5. "Flying Tiger Heritage Park" - news report about the dedication of the Flying Tiger Heritage Air Park.
6. "The A10" - demo film produced by Fairchild Republic - includes scenes from RAF Bentwaters, Spangdahlem, Germany, etc.
7. "East Coast A10 Demo" - video from the gun camera of the A10 during two demo flights in May, 1988. The pilot is Capt. Mo Rolph. Crewchiefs mentioned on the film are SSGT Tony "Spud" Spufera <sp?> and SSGT Paul Dunning.
8. Desert Storm slide show: Video of the slide show put together for the families back at England AFB during Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
I haven't found the tape of the A10 belly landing yet. I don't think it made its way back to Louisiana after the ex left. But, it's possible that in the confusion at the time, that it got accidentally mixed in with video tapes of the ex's family. I'll keep looking for this one.
I'd forgotten about it, but I've also got on video the broadcast of the return of the 76th Fighter Squadron from Desert Storm, 1991. It's about an hour long. Features interviews with former POW Capt. Dale Storr, and other stories about the Flying Tigers and their families.
I've also got video from the Vanguards' deployment to Germany in 1989. Very little aircraft footage on this one (if any), but the former Flying Tigers here might get a kick out of seeing it.
