Though I may occasionally get high on engine exhaust, the skidmarks are all on Boomer, in this case...

You will find, to my credit, these quotes:
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>For example, FSD-1 (#79-780) showed stability and control problems that did not show up during wind tunnel tests. [i]<b>This was rectified by enlarging and lengthening the tail fin,</b> and changing the tail fin from a four faceted diamond shaped cross section to a six sided hexagon cross section.<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>
Thus, the trailing edge of the fin NOW extends a few feet BEYOND the end of the platypus tail, like I said. It does not appear to in the above trailer pics.
Also, regarding colors:
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> FSD-1 was originally delivered unpainted (See earlier picture on this page) and was painted in a camouflage paint scheme for it's first flight. That was abandoned for the standard gray used on all four subsequent flight test aircraft.<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>
I think it's a tarp because the canopy is covered, as are the air intakes (though the screen may be enough to conceal them on their own from that angle).
Now, let's compare tails...
Early:

Late:

See how the tail's trailing edge extends past the fuselage in the later model?
I still say you want to keep it covered from heat, as well, because prolonged direct sun exposure is going to mess things up while you're towing it.
They say, "To understand a man, you have to walk a mile in his shoes," but his clownshoe proved a most uncomfortable fit.
